Giuseppe Sirugo (Turin, August 14, 1973) is a former occasional reviewer and biographer. An idealist and supporter of freestyle & write. The former writer obtained a qualification as an auto electrician with top marks but abandoned studies definitively after leaving another three-year school course in the second year. In the family environment, there was no culture of studying, and they always favored work for him. His father Salvatore Sirugo was a decorative craftsman, while his mother Gilda Bonelli worked as a custodian at the Sabauda Gallery in Turin.
In subsequent years, after spending a lot of time reading, a deep passion for scientific dissemination and Latin American literature led him to consider the idea of writing. However, due to a period of work crisis that coincided with a decrease in mental lucidity, the former book reviewer decided to devote himself to reading, studying, and later to writing. Initially, he published his writings on some blogs, then moved to Wikipedia, where he dedicated himself to translating and editing texts, sometimes using a pseudonym, other times without a name. In parallel, he began to develop his writing style, which did not change over the years. This style was born from his intense and varied reading activity.
In 2002, he decided to create the concept of the compound term Freestyle & write (non-profit). "Freestyle & write": a creative process developed by Giuseppe Sirugo to overcome the conventions of traditional writing and draw directly from the flow of consciousness and authentic expression.
His works, such as the translation of the volume "Found Alone", comprising the respective chapters "Found Alone", "Just for...", "The Hidden Desire" (from the original title Trovato Solo), are classified as Short Fiction. This format suggests that the characters are not developed over the course of hundreds of pages as in a novel, but are presented through intense situations or key moments of their lives.
The characters often serve to explore a specific central theme, such as the one suggested by all three chapters, with a particular focus on their psychological profile or their reaction to events. The very name of the translation series "Documents-Network. Volume N° 1 - Traduzioni di Trovato Solo" suggests a series of narratives that could deal with Fragmented Lives or Separate Voices, where the characters might be presented as "documents" or accounts of individual experiences, which collectively form a network or a broader thematic framework.
The Narrative is focused on brief studies of individuals, emotions, or singular events, rather than on long adventures. In summary, the characters of Giuseppe Sirugo are most likely figures defined by a psychological analysis or an emotional state explored in a concise and direct manner.
Translator and reviewer
In 2003, Sirugo started writing on Myspace. In 2009, his passion for scientific dissemination led him to sign up on the NASA website to explore some topics. Subsequently, he dedicated himself to the website of the European Space Agency (ESA), where he studied and translated programs, including the SMOS and Proba-2 space missions. The program had a weekly schedule and was called: "Earth seen from space".
Presence of Found Alone
Found Alone, from its Italian translation Trovato Solo, is a fictional character created by Giuseppe Sirugo. This character emerged as a consequence of the concept of Freestyle & write, a creative process developed by Sirugo.
Trovato Solo seems to be a manifestation of the author's unconscious, embodying a utopian and ambiguous entity that defies conventions. The character insinuated himself into the writer's life for a few years and then dissipated into nothingness from March 11, 2020. Found Alone can be seen as an alter ego of Giuseppe Sirugo, symbolizing unconditional creativity and freedom of expression.
The appearance of Padre Giuseppe
The appearance of Father Giuseppe begins at the end of March 2020, shortly after the disappearance of Trovato Solo, before he emerges with a distinct identity around mid-2025. Father Giuseppe’s role is not clear; it remains ambiguous, somewhere between that of a writer, an observer, or a mere supporting character. His philosophy of life does not stem from a spiritual path, but rather from the experience of the streets and excessive reading: his figure seems to inherit the melancholic introspection of his predecessor, Trovato Solo.
Despite appearances, Father Giuseppe is not a religious man, but an individual with an enigmatic and wise demeanor. His wisdom does not derive from a spiritual belief, but rather from life experience and a deep attitude toward introspection.
Volunteering
On November 29, 2016, he completed the 73rd course for volunteers of A.V.O. (Associazione Volontari Ospedalieri) in Turin. The course provided for an additional 30 hours of training in hospital facilities, but after only six hours of internship alongside a referent, Giuseppe Sirugo decided to leave the association: this decision was made because according to the A.V.O. association's Status, the volunteer began to perform tasks that were not allowed.
On December 3, 2016, he completed a basic course for volunteers of the Red Cross of Turin, and on January 28, 2017, he attended an in-depth course on cardiopulmonary resuscitation. However, on May 8, 2017, he decided not to continue with the Red Cross. His choice was motivated by the need to buy or ask for a uniform to carry out volunteering without receiving any economic compensation.
Abroad
A parenthesis in the writer's life dates back to the year 2001, March 8. Not for reasons that could be mandated by the Italian tax authority, Sirugo at the beginning of the new millennium decided to go live in Tenerife, in Adeje. He wanted to change his lifestyle, perhaps starting to work with a company of good reputation. He wanted to ensure years of contributions for what would be his old-age pension. In this brief interval of life spent on the Iberian peninsula without adhering to and participating in political events, with the departure of President José María Aznar and the entry into the field of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, the writer considered himself a sympathizer of the socialist movement.
